"Emma was someone of the sea." A friend

The Buzzards Bay Swim is an open water swim from Cisco Brewers in New Bedford, a distance of 1.2 miles, to Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven. 

Team For Emma began in 2022 by her friend and team captain Abbie Daniels in memory of Emma. Emma loved the Buzzards Bay Swim. Emma loved being in the water. Team for Emma swims the Bay because of Emma's love of Buzzards Bay. But more importantly, they swim because of Emma. The way her smile lit up a room and her contagious energy. People were drawn to her.

Emma originally registered in 2017 at the age of 10. Emma said, "I wanted to challenge myself," she said. '"Also, I love Silvershell Beach, and that's on Buzzards Bay, so I wanted to help keep it clean."

In 2022, Team for Emma had 18 registered swimmers and raised $9,720. 

In 2023, the team had 34 registered swimmers and raised $20,632. 

In 2024, the Team for Emma raised $22,756.26 and had 37 registered swimmers!
